Upstash Launches Global 2.0 Database Update

Upstash introduces Global 2.0, an updated global database (Redis) with selectable regions for improved performance without downtime during changes.

The database is optimized for edge functions like Cloudflare Workers, reducing latency with a primary replica for writes and multiple read replicas.

Users can select their primary region for writes and additional read regions to cover user bases, currently offering 8 AWS regions with sub-millisecond latency on reads within the same region.

Pricing remains per command executed with the replication factored in, and the free tier provides 10,000 daily commands with one read region.

Future plans include region-specific primary selection per key, benchmarking app development, and expanding region availability.
